Ladd Recreation Center Court Campaign

The Select Board is proposing funding 12.5% of the funds needed, $40,000. The remainder of the money is being raised by private donations.  We are almost at the 50% mark!
 
The Problem:
Cracking and heaving courts are deteriorating more each year because of poor drainage from the clay substructure. They are an injury hazard. The partial fix three years ago of resurfacing and painting the courts did not last because of the clay subsurface. For two years the Court Renovation Committee has been researching the best long-term fix. With donations and the grant, we are planning a complete redo that will last for generations.
 
The Proposal:
Using donated funds and hopefully a 50% federal grant, we intend to rebuild the courts within the current footprint to include two tennis courts and two pickleball courts. Having employed a geotechnical engineer to dig test holes, we verified that the courts are built on clay and special drainage needs to be installed.
