Message from the RSU 38 Superintendent

This fall, RSU 38 Maranacook Area Schools is building a new strategic plan — the document that sets our district’s goals and priorities for the years ahead. Our last plan ended its term in 2024, and we have partnered with the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) to develop the next one.\ \ A plan like this is only as good as the input behind it, and that input starts with you. We are holding four community forums this fall, one for each of our member towns:\ \ Thursday, September 24 — Manchester\ Wednesday, September 30 — Mount Vernon\ Thursday, October 1 — Readfield\ Thursday, October 8 — Wayne\ \ All four are held at the Maranacook Community High School cafeteria from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Each evening is dedicated to one town, so please plan to attend on the date listed for your town. Keeping the groups separate allows us to hear each community clearly and see where the four towns agree and where they differ.\ \ These sessions are for everyone — whether or not you currently have children in our schools. The conversation will focus on what is working well in our schools, what needs attention, and what you want in place for students in the years ahead. It is a working discussion, and its value comes from people being in the room together: ideas build on each other in a way they simply cannot otherwise.\ \ NESDEC already held a visioning session with the District Leadership Team and the Community Planning Team and will also meet with staff and students in grades 6–12 this fall. They gather the input from all of these sessions, identify the themes that run through them, and use those themes to shape the goals and priorities of the strategic plan, which will be presented to the School Board in Spring 2027.\ \ The flyer with all four dates is attached.
