Job Opening: Town Clerk – Town of Wayne, Maine

Full-Time (32 hours/week) | $22–$25/hour DOE

 Are you organized, community-minded, and enjoy working with the public? The Town of Wayne, a vibrant and welcoming small town in central Maine, is seeking a Town Clerk to join our dedicated team!

 As a key member of our municipal staff, the Town Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining official town records, supporting democratic processes, and assisting residents with a wide range of services—from registering vehicles and issuing hunting licenses to ensuring smooth local elections.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and safeguard town records and official documents
  • Serve as Registrar of Voters and oversee election processes
  • Process motor vehicle and boat registrations, and issue hunting, fishing, and dog licenses
  • Provide excellent front-line customer service to residents and visitors
  • Support day-to-day municipal operations and assist with various administrative tasks

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic public-facing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to public service and the values of local government
  • Prior municipal experience is a plus, but we will train the right candidate
