Wayne Select Board

Description

  • The Town of Wayne has a Select Board / Town Manager form of government.
  • The Select Board consists of five members.
  • Members of the Select Board serve three-year staggered terms.
  • Each year members of the Select Board are elected at the Annual Town Meeting that is held in June.
  • The Select Board has regular public meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
  • Meetings are held at the Ladd Recreation Center at 6:30PM.

Aging at Home Committee

Description

Aging at Home is a Committee of the Town of Wayne. Our main reason for being is to help enable elders to remain independent in their homes as long as possible. We have a number of programs: meal delivery, visiting elders, gathering for hand work, bridge games, a group walk, Tai Chi, lunches out and at the center, a grief support group, and others.

Our official Aging at Home Center is in the lower level of the Wayne Community Church. Our hours are: Tuesdays 9-1 pm. Wednesdays 1-4 pm. Fridays 9- 12:30 pm.

Board of Appeals

Description

The Board of Appeals hears administrative or variance appeal requests as governed\ by the Zoning Ordinance and Title 30-A MRSA §2691.

  • The Board of Appeals consists of five members.
  • Members of the Board of Appeals serve staggered three-year terms.
  • The Board of Appeals meets on an as-needed basis.

Budget Committee

Description

The Budget Committee is composed of community members responsible for reviewing the proposed budget submitted by the Town Manager. The Budget Committee holds several joint meetings with the Selectboard to propose an annual budget for Annual Town Meeting approval in which they deem expedient and in the best interests of the Town.

  • The Budget Committee consists of five members.
  • Members of the Budget Committee serve staggered five-year terms.
  • The Budget Committee meets on an as-needed basis.

Buildings Committee

Description

The Buildings Committee is established by the Select Board as a standing technical advisory committee to advise on the care, maintenance, use, and improvement of the Town’s buildings and facilities. This includes municipal buildings, historic structures, and community-use spaces that are owned by the Town.

  • Committee members appointed by the Select Board shall serve staggered three- (3) year terms.
  • Committee members designated by the Fire Chief and/or Ladd Recreation Center Board shall serve until replaced by the designating authority.

Cemetery Association

The Wayne Cemetery Association owns and maintains six cemeteries in Wayne: North Wayne Cemetery, Evergreen Cemetery, Gordon Cemetery, Revolutionary Old Burial Grounds Cemetery (a.k.a. Revolutionary War Cemetery), Lakeshore Cemetery, and Beech Hill Cemetery. The Association also owns and maintains the formerly private Wing Cemetery.

Comprehensive Plan Committee

Description

The Comprehensive Plan Committee is a standing advisory committee responsible for overseeing the development, review, and implementation of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The committee advises on matters related to land use, economic development, natural resources, and municipal services to support the Town’s long-term goals. This includes gathering public input, evaluating community needs, and recommending policies and strategies that guide future growth and decision-making.

Description

Farmers Market Committee

Description

  • The Farmers Market Committee consists of six members.
  • Members serve one-year terms.
  • The Committee meets on an as-needed basis.

As the Wayne Maine Farmers’ Market evolves, the following goals will serve as permanent fundamental ambitions:

  • To support and promote local growers and producers as well as offer healthy, local, and fresh products to the community
  • To cultivate a strong sense of community by providing an enjoyable setting for people to visit, interact and learn, in addition to buying products.
  • To create an opportunity for direct grower-consumer interactions and idea-sharing.

Planning Board

Description

This board shall perform duties expected of Planning Boards under state law and any other applicable ordinances. This ordinance is adopted persaunt to Art. VIII, Part 2 Section 1 of the Maine Constitution and 30-A MR.SA Section 3001.

  • The Planning Board consists of five members and two alternate members.
  • Members serve five-year terms.
  • The Board meets on the third Thursday of each month.

Solid Waste & Recycling Committee

Description

The Solid Waste and Recycling Committee (hereafter the “Committee) shall be a standing committee composed of the following voting members: one member from each participating Select Board, and at least three community members from participating municipalities; and the following non-voting members: the Transfer Station Manager and participating Town Managers. The Committee shall review and provide input and recommendations to the Transfer Station Manager and participating Select Boards.

  • The Committee consists of two members and one selectboard representative.
  • Members serve one-year terms.
  • The Committee meets on an as-needed basis.

Wayne Elementary School Committee

Description

The Wayne Elementary School Committee supports and advocates for the continued success of Wayne Elementary School and its students. The committee reviews matters related to the community, regional education partners, financial decisions, and works to protect the long-term viability of the school. This includes monitoring issues that could affect the school’s future and value of a local elementary school for Wayne families and the community.
